An exciting part of becoming a nurse is choosing what field you want to specialize in. There are many options and you have to choose the one best suited to your temperament and personality. If you love children, for example, you might choose to work in pediatrics. Alternatively you might consider working in an emergency ward, in a surgical theatre, or in a high care ward.

When applying for a job, you will have to choose where you prefer to work. Some people choose to work in large hospitals while others choose to work in community clinics. If you want to work privately, you might consider living with someone who is ill or frail and caring for them full time. Other options include rehabilitation homes and homes for the aged.

In order to study nursing most institutions will require you to have at least a high school diploma. The best is to find out what institution is nearest you, and what it will cost you to study there. Take into consideration factors such as travel and accommodation. Some institutions also offer full scholarships and bursaries to those who are deserving or in need of financial aid.
