Calculus deals with limits, derivatives, integrals, functions, and infinite series, which are crucial for understanding flight properties. Calculus also provides the basic foundation for the principals of speed, direction, and motion. Consequently, calculus is instrumental in the design and production of all aircraft carriers.

Physics mainly consists of the study of motion and gravity, which is why it is probably the most important science associated with aviation. Other important elements of physics, in relation to aviation, are laws associated with energy, heat, light, and sound. Physics is a necessity for learning aerodynamics, which is the principle of flight. Physic theories and equations are also used to solve and maintain aviation equipment.
